Sales team in Canada tops list
June 15, 2012

General Mills Canada has been ranked as the No. 1 sales organization in Canada by Advantage International, a business relationship benchmarking firm that ranks the top 20 packaged goods companies annually.

“This recognition is a real vote of confidence from our customers in our company, our people and our brands,” says Doug McGillivray, vice president of Sales in Canada. “This award enhances our credibility and clout with our customers as we focus on driving both our existing business as well as our new Yoplait business. We are very proud of this result and the great efforts from each of our team members who helped us achieve this ranking.”

This marks the first year that General Mills has been ranked No. 1. We were ranked No. 4 in 2011 and No. 12 in 2010.

In the Advantage International (AI) scorecard, General Mills Canada placed first in category development and shopper insights support, and in customer marketing and promotion practices. We also placed in the top five in the remaining five categories measured by AI.

“One of the ways we have become the partner of choice for our customers is to deliver effective and efficient trade strategies, as well as to provide the best-in-class category insights to every customer at every meeting,” says Robert Burke, vice president of trade marketing in Canada. “These strategies solidify General Mills' No. 1 ranking.”

“Developing and leveraging our sales capabilities with our customers is a cornerstone of our strategy,” says Burke. “It is very rewarding and exciting to see that our customers value our collaboration to drive category growth and recognize that General Mills sales capabilities are best-in-class.”
